Pack-Man Removals • Customer Guide

Moving Day

A little preparation can make a big difference on moving day. Having your belongings packed, organised and ready to go helps our team load efficiently and keeps your move running as smoothly as possible.

Being ready before we arrive can save time — and because your move is charged based on time, it can save you money too.

📦 Have Your Boxes Packed & Ready

Where possible, have boxes completely packed, closed and securely taped before our arrival. Clearly labelling boxes with their destination room — such as Kitchen, Bedroom or Bathroom — can also make unloading at your new property much easier.

Avoid overfilling boxes. Heavy items such as books are better divided between several smaller boxes rather than packed into one extremely heavy box.

🛏️ Prepare Furniture for Moving

If furniture needs to be dismantled, doing this before we arrive can save valuable moving time. Bed frames, tables and other larger pieces may be easier and safer to transport when partially dismantled.

If you would like Pack-Man to dismantle and reassemble your bed, please let us know when booking your move. Keep screws, bolts and small fittings together in labelled bags if you dismantle furniture yourself. If you’re unsure whether something needs dismantling, you can ask Pack-Man before moving day.

👕 Empty Furniture Where Possible

Empty drawers, wardrobes and cabinets where practical. This makes furniture lighter and easier to handle while reducing the chance of belongings moving around inside during transport.

🧊 Prepare Fridges & Freezers

Remove food and loose items before the move. If your fridge or freezer needs defrosting, organise this ahead of time and make sure any excess water has been removed before we arrive.

🚪 Keep Access Clear

Make sure hallways, doorways, stairs and paths between your belongings and the truck are as clear as possible. If possible, arrange a suitable parking/loading space close to the property.

For apartments or units, check whether you need to book a lift, loading bay or moving time with building management.

🔑 Keep Important Items With You

We recommend keeping essentials and important personal belongings with you rather than loading them onto the truck, including keys, wallets, identification, medication, important documents, phones/chargers and valuable or sentimental items.

🐶 Children & Pets

Moving involves people carrying large and heavy furniture through doorways and walkways. Where possible, keep young children and pets away from the main moving area while loading and unloading is underway.

⚠️ Tell Us About Difficult or Heavy Items

Please let us know before moving day if you have unusually heavy, oversized or difficult items, particularly anything around or above 100 kg.

Also tell us about difficult staircases, narrow access, long walks from the property to the truck, restricted parking or other circumstances that could affect the move.
